Located in Central Eastern France, Burgundy is an open invitation to discovery, taste and sharing. With beautiful scenery, UNESCO World Heritage sites, exceptional food and the oldest wine trail in France it is one of our favourite regions to explore.

Whilst it is well known all over the world for its famous vineyards, we want to show you that the Burgundy region has much more than just wine to offer.

If you are wanting to visit a beautiful region with stunning countryside landscapes dotted with tiny villages, some of them "Plus Beaux Villages de France", in a place that is away from the crowds and authentic, this 7-day all-inclusive food & wine tour of Burgundy is for you.

“We have just come home from what I would say the best holiday I have ever had. People ask what the highlight was - my answer - the whole trip!!! The food, the wine, the countryside were all just truly remarkable. His famous quote "no stress, that's what I am here for" let us enjoy ourselves without a care in the world - he just made it happen.Thank you Francois and My French Voyage - you made a special occasion truly unforgettable”. Charlie and Belinda, 2019 Sydney AUS

“What a truly unique and memorable experience!
Attractions and sites visited were outside the normal tourist traps which offered an intriguing insight into the 'real' local French culture. Each day was finished by Francois with spectacular culinary prowess in the kitchen, watching, learning and/or participating. Totally sublime!
We look forward to booking another tour in another region of France with My French Voyage”.

Your Gourmet Adventure in Burgundy

Burgundy is a major centre for wine and gastronomy and we guarantee it will stimulate your senses as we spend 7 days experiencing the best food and wine this region has to offer, including:

  • A visit to Halles de Dijon (covered market) built in 1868 by the Eifell Company, and enjoy a very special wine tasting.

  • Discover the Dijon mustard. We will visit the mustard producer Fallot, the last company still making mustard in the traditional way!

  • Enjoy Pain d’épices de Dijon, known as ginger and honey bread, with a visit to the company Mulot & Petitjean, a traditional family business and heir to an ancestral expertise that has endured since 1796.

  • Enjoy cheese! What visit to France wouldn’t be complete without cheese? We will taste the Époisses, made from lactic curd and featuring a washed crust. We will introduce you to Olivier, one of the country’s best producers. We will also have a tasting of the cheese de l’Abbaye de Citeaux, produced by monks.

  • We will introduce you to local produce and let you experience food such as charolles beef and chicken bresse.

  • You will visit restaurants away from the tourist traps, offering the so called “menus bourguignons”. One of our visit will be to Martial’s restaurant, who has taken the art of bistro cuisine to the next level. An example from the three-course lunch menu: “an island of whipped cream floating proudly atop a Maranges-white asparagus velouté, with bacon crispies tizer; excellent shredded suckling pig in a fig leaf jus, with mashed potatoes”.

  • Drink the very best organic wines from the region!

  • Visit legendary Bruno’s Wine Bar with outstanding cheese and charcuterie platters feauturing Saint-Marcellin from La Mère Richard, Boudin Noir from Christian Parra, Emilia or Angelachu tuna belly, and Rosette made from the owner’s pigs!

  • Visit le Bistrot Lucien in Gevrey Chambertin.

Michelin star Chef and your host, Francois, will also cook every dinner for you and with you (for those who want) incorporating local recipes with seasonal products picked up daily from the local markets and local producers. If you would like to prepare a special dish or have a special request for dinner one evening – we would love to do that for you, so just let us know and we can make it happen.

Your backroad adventure in Burgundy

September is harvest month and therefore a beautiful time to be in Burgundy.

We will follow the route of the Grands Crus de Bourgogne, the “Champs-Elysées” of Burgundy.

We will also take you on a journey to the Côte de Nuits, which extends from the south of Dijon to prestigious hillsides that is home to villages bearing the names of the greatest red wines in the world: Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée-Conti and many more.

The Côte de Beaune follows on from the Côte de Nuits towards the south. This soil is blessed with the Chardonnay grape and is where the greatest dry white wines in the world are produced and we can’t wait for you to experience this very special place.

Burgundy is also home to amazing history and heritage. Cities well preserved such as Dijon, the capital of the ancient Duchy of Burgundy, and Beaune definitely deserve a visit. In Beaune we will make sure that you don't miss the Hospices, an emblematic example of 15th century Flamboyant Gothic architecture and we will have some time to go for a stroll through the old medieval town.

If you are interested and time permits it we will also visit the Abbey Church of Cluny and contemplate the religious heritage of the Burgundy. Cluny’s Abbey was founded in 910 by Guillaume d'Aquitaine and construction was completed in the mid 12th century. For five hundred years, until Saint Peter's in Rome was built, the Abbey Church of Cluny was the largest religious building in Europe (177m long) and it has produced a number of Popes.

And of course, there will be time for some shopping. Why not bring back an authentic Dijon mustard or a Crème de cassis liqueur to serve the famous French kir and share a piece of Burgundy with your friends at home?
